IoT technologies
Connecting Things Industry.
By: Mauricio Pavez.
The world of industrial automation advances day after day, hand with technological advances, new ideas and influence the IT world. Today we speak of IoT, or internet of things, very naturally, without realizing that means a technological leap unthinkable a few years ago.

Modern industry demands more technology in search of productivity and efficiency. We are definitely going over there, maybe not as fast as we would like, but new ways of doing things have come to stay.
At present, associated with internet technologies and information systems are present in the industry. The Ethernet standard has penetrated from the control room to field the same instrument, shifting protocols and proprietary standards.
Now then, having the channel
communications available, nothing stops the advance of technology in the industry. Today it is common to have fully mobile industrial applications, in our cell we can check the status of a process and remote control, from anywhere in the world.

The problem of the Micro
We see how our appliances are already connected to the Internet, television, refrigerators, washing machines… but how can we connect a jar of coffee, when its cost is "micro" in relation to older appliances?. The availability of "connected" is inversely proportional to the cost of the good.
The same happens in the industry. Automation machine reaches, robot tool or conveyor, by giving examples, without reaching the product manufacturing, or lower tool parts etc..
What alternatives offered by the market technological solutions?
All options, We highlight the following technologies:
Link cell chip / data plan: Using a modem and an appropriate data plan, Internet connection is direct, instant and comprehensive coverage in the country. The cost of the plans available is very convenient, but nevertheless, the computer modem remains average cost, affecting the cost of massification
Bluetooth systems: This technology offers a personal area network, in which the camera, phone and headset, keyboards and audio devices can interact. The benefits of this protocol have made inroads into the industry, where there is already multiple sensors and process equipment already incorporated connectivity option.
RFID System: This technology allows the connection and identification of the object containing the TAG, with equipment reader, through radiofrequencies, with the enormous advantage of reduced cost and multiplicity of forms and applications. RFID is classified, as lower power device, active and passive tags.
Active devices contain a power source, which allows the device to have an excellent response sensitivity, to the power "hear" a weak read request. This means that the distance between the reader and the tag may be higher, and even it allows real-time detection location (RTLS). We are very familiar with this technology, since the traffic industry has incorporated very successfully in stations and electronic toll collection.
Passive RFIDs, It does not require any power supply, achieve a reduced cost, unlimited service life and small size. This advantage allows passive tags have multiple forms, from paper labels, pasticos films, bracelets and even metal nuts, facilitating its incorporation into various industrial processes.
As ACTIVECONTROL have experience in each of the points:
Confidex RFID work with: European company's extensive global experience in manufacturing RFID devices, tags for industrial environments, miners, high gain, etc.
an RTLS, We are representatives of SEWIO: European company RTLS systems based on UWB technology. This system detects a tag, with an accuracy of up 15x15x15cm, without major restrictions.
Our line of instruments ACS has Bluetooth its main products, having direct access from any computer to process information. This is ideal for restricted access areas, por ejemplo, sterile areas.
Finally, represented by our German IoT, We can use technologies that use cellular networks for access to information and access it quickly, through custom Cloud services and applications for mobile devices and base stations.
Is the problem solved?
All these options allow us greater penetration of control systems, and thus the application of technological tools to areas not covered by traditional systems, but nevertheless, still lack the technology becomes more advanced on this road. We are optimistic, as we see every day more equipment and technologies as lower their costs and increase their massification.
